“Micro” Site Concept

With only 2,200 of these “High Voltage” tCs created, who better to be the face of the campaign than Greek mythology’s father of all Gods, Zeus. We really captured lightning in a bottle; in a car; in a website; in some banners. The site featured glorious Zeus videos, downloadable content and various easter egg rollovers. Banners allowed users to be the hand of Zeus and wield true awesomeness.

Scion wanted to promote their rebate deal to college students. We created an Angry Birds type game all built in HTML5 for the Onion App. Users launch cars to overcome various college themed obstacles and collect as many points possible. Students interested in Scion’s $1,000 Rebate could pause the game and click on a link for more information.

Scion wanted to promote their new pure price barcode. Everyone who wants to buy a Scion pays the same price – no haggles, no hassle. Our idea was to show how you could take your Scion in any direction for that one price.

At TakeOnTheMachine.com/AR, we created an augmented reality driving game for the 2011 Scion tC Take on the Machine Campaign. Traditionally, AR integrates computer-generated animations with the real world, but in this instance the opposite applied. We immersed gamers in a futuristic CG environment straight from your computer.

Using a marker from tC print spreads, players could virtually place their hands on the steering wheel of a 2011 tC and navigate around obstacles in a high-speed race for the fastest time. The site tracked and assigned bragging rights to the top 100 players.

Take on the Machine AR Tour

Are you growing to be there? Like an Augmented Reality Moustache, only you don’t have to hold up a pesky AR code. CamStache magically grows moustaches of all styles and positions them on your face. Snap a pic and share your mug with friends on Facebook and Twitter. Available in both web and mobile flavors, this was created to get people in the mood for the annual Petaluma Whiskerino facial hair growing contest.

We had real Yahoo Engineers talk about how they made the new Yahoo homepage. The engineers explained how they separated metadata from markup and used machine-learned models, Hadoop, and giant JSON structures to retool the page. Don’t worry – it’s closed-captioned for the nerd-impaired.

Collectopus took over yahoo.com for a day by showing people the new and improved homepage features. Users can now put everything they are interested in on their customized yahoo.com homepage.
